We all know what boots are and it's possible that a lot of you have used them since the day we started wearing shoes, but not everyone knows where it came from. That's is the topic of this article - The origin of cowboy boots.
Before we completely go to the topic, for the sake of those who don't know, the definition of boots according to wikipedia is a type of footwear that covers at least the foot and the ankle and sometimes extends up to the knee or even the hip. Most boots have a heel that is clearly distinguishable from the rest of the sole, even if the two are made of one piece.
According to a lot of websites about cowboy boots, no one has been able to find out who the really inventor or designer was. But the history of cowboy boots started back in the time of civil war. Cowboys needed a shoes that will give them protection because there were a lot of dangers on the trail like barbed wires and snakes. An unidentified cowboy during that time is believed to be the inventor of cowboy boots.
The cowboy went to a shoemaker in Kansas or Texas in 1870's with ideas to improve their footwear. The shoemaker was asked by the cowboy to make a new kind of boot with a square or narrower toe so they could get their foot easily into their strups. He also wanted a bigger heel to keep his foot in the stirrup while he rode and to get more traction when walking on rocky terrains. The shoemaker did it and they designed to fit tightly at the bottom so it would not fall off but looser at the top so that when a cowboy was in trouble, he could easily wiggle out of the boots.
So that was the birth of the cowboy boots and it's been modified from generations to generations for all kinds of purposes.
